A century old building in the nation’s capital is enlisting help from a thoroughly modern source in a bid to preserve its historic floors. The London Coliseum, opened in 1904 and intended to be the finest entertainment venue of its time, is one of the first monuments in the UK to use a brand new floor protection product from Trio Plus.
The theatre, which is the largest in London, has 2500 seats and made a spectacular debut over 100 years ago as a people’s music hall and theatre. After the inaugural variety performance on Christmas Eve a full scale chariot race which required the stage to rotate was just one of the many acts to call the Coliseum home. The theatre was re-opened in 2004 following an extensive renovation programme.
The Coliseum has purchased a number of heavy duty floor protection mats from Trio Plus. This new floor protection product has only recently been released in a heavy duty format. The rubber framed, tacky, dust removing mat prevents dust and most debris from being walked or wheeled into sensitive areas. An ideal temporary floor protector for carpet and hard floored areas, the tacky mats are designed to sit at the entrance to the room as traditional mats do. As foot traffic passes over the mat, the adhesive surface locks on to the potentially damaging particles and prevents them from passing into the room.
TrioPlus also supply a standard tacky mat which can be used for both carpet protection and hard floor protection. The mats are ideal for capturing dirt from muddy paws and boots and stopping it tracking in to the house and over the floors.
Both the standard and heavy duty tacky mats are built up of numbered layers, which can be peeled off to reveal a new clean surface underneath when the exposed layer is completely used. All of the tacky mats used to protect floors are non-odorous, non-drying and non-allergic making them suitable for use in public spaces and homes where children and pets are to be found.
